KWI TO RASINN Cooking Competition 2024

The UBJ Foundation is excited to announce the second edition of its ZENFAN ROSNWAR event series, Kwi To Rasinn, a cooking contest dedicated to celebrating traditional and authentic Mauritian meals from years gone by.

Following the success of last year’s Dessine to Rasinn by #zenfanrosnwar, this 2024 event promises to be even more thrilling and competitive. Exclusively reserved for adults, the event will take place on 29 September 2024 in Roches Noires Village, beginning at 14h and ending at 16h, providing participants with 2 hours to complete their dishes.

Five groups, each consisting of three adults, will compete in this culinary challenge. Each group will receive a budget of Rs 5000 for purchasing ingredients. The menu requirements include a starter of Rasson, Brède Songes, a main course featuring Fruit à Pain, Vegetarian Fish, and Jack Fruit, and a dessert of either Sagoo or Doude Pitti.

Participants are expected to bring their own utensils, while the UBJ Foundation will provide a 2-ring gas cooker and gas cylinders. The food prepared should be sufficient for 10 people to taste and judge.

Participants will be evaluated on home economics, health and safety, methodology of preparations, presentation, taste, and the disposal of waste and cleanliness. The top three groups will be awarded prizes, trophies, medals, and gifts.

This year’s Kwi To Rasinn promises to be a celebration of Mauritian heritage, showcasing the rich culinary traditions of the island. We look forward to seeing the creativity and skill of the participants as they bring these cherished recipes to life. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to savour the flavours of Mauritius and witness the talent of local cooks.

Join us for a day filled with delicious food, community spirit, and a celebration of our culinary roots!
